Chapter 22

It’s 2am and Veronika was mad as hell. Ian wasn’t home yet. Coming home in the late hours of the night was becoming a routine. She was going to let him have it when he came home.

She wondered if Trip was still out too.

She decided to call Iyanna and ask her.

The phone ring once before Iyanna answered her phone.

“Hey Vee. What are you doing up so late?” Iyanna asked when she answered the phone.

“What’s up girl? I’m waiting on my stupid ass husband to come home. He said he wouldn’t be gone for long. As you can see, it’s after 2am! Is Trip still out too?” Veronika questioned her.

“You know he is, I’m used to it by now.”

“Well I’m not, he was always in the house at a decent hour. Seems like now that I know he in the streets, he has gotten careless. Like he doesn’t care.”

“Come on Vee. You know my brother loves you.”

“Yea, well now all I do is worry. Why didn’t you ever tell me? I thought you cared about me.”

“You know I do. I’ve never had these feelings for a woman. The facts remain the same though, Ian is my twin, my other half. It was his responsibility to tell you, not mine.”

There was silence on the phone for a minute. It was kind of awkward to Veronika, being on the phone with Iyanna after being disrespected by her the other night. She knew that what she was saying was true. No matter what, she rides with her brother. Them messing around was just some two people having fun.

They both began to speak at the same time.

“You go ahead.” Veronika said.

“I just want to apologize again for the other night. I am so sorry. I should have been more sensitive to what those idiots tried to do to you. Please forgive me Vee.” Iyanna pleaded.

“I forgive you. We can put it behind us.”

“Thank you. So is it over between us?” Iyanna wanted to know.

Veronika chuckled. Her line beeped when she was about to answer Iyannas question.

“Hold on girl, my line beeping.”

She clicked over.

“Hello.” Veronika answered.

“Veronika?”

“Hey Trip. What’s up?”

She sat up straight in her bed because she heard the urgency in his voice.

“Get to the hospital now.” He yelled.

“Oh my god. What’s wrong? What happened? Did something happen to Ian? Where is he?”

She shot question after question to him.

She began to cry fearing the worst.

“I will explain when you get here. Please hurry. CMC downtown.”

“Ok. I’m coming.”

She clicked back over to Iyanna jumping out of her bed. Iyanna could barely understand her because she was crying so hard.

“Calm down Vee. I can’t understand you.”

Veronika took a deep breath calming herself.

“Trip just called and told me to come to the hospital. Something happened but he wouldn’t tell me over the phone. I’m getting dressed so I can go. Oh my god. I hope my husband is ok.”

“Omg Vee. You can’t drive like this. I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” Iyanna began to cry herself. She doesn’t know what she would do if something happened to her brother.
